Richard Finkelstein, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, earned a Ph.D. (1982) and an M.A. (1978) in English from the University of Chicago and a B.A. (1975) in English from Williams College.

Dr. Finkelstein is the author of numerous scholarly articles and conference presentations, including most recently “Pericles, Paul, and Protestantism,” in Comparative Drama and “Shakespeare on Broadway,” in the Encyclopedia of Broadway and American Culture. His article, “The Comedy of Errors and the Theology of Things,” appeared in Studies in English Literature 1500-1900 in 2012.

He is an expert on Shakespearean literature, the Renaissance and British literature. Dr. Finkelstein is a member of the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences Standing Committee on Liberal Arts Institutions.
