JeanAnn Dabb, Professor of Art History, has taught at the University of Mary Washington since 1992 .  She specializes in ancient and medieval art and the history of mosaics. She holds a B.A. from Weber State College, an M.A. from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst, and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.  Dabb is a member of the Medieval Academy of America, the College Art Association, the International Center of Medieval Art, and the Society of American Mosaic Artists for which she served seven years on the Board of Directors.  She also has interests in film history (especially the work of Alfred Hitchcock) and the history of mosaics and has exhibited her own mosaics in international venues. In 2009 she received both the Mary W. Pinschmidt and the Grellet C. Simpson Awards.  Dabb teaches survey of western art, art of ancient Egypt and the Near East, Greek art, Roman art, medieval art, the history of Paris, and history and techniques of mosaics.
