Visiting Assistant Professor of Ceramics Jon McMillan recently traveled to Houston, Texas in early March to teach an intensive ceramics workshop at the Glassell School of Art, part of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. The four-day workshop focused on making work for, and firing a traditional wood-fired kiln. The firing of the kiln lasted for three days and four nights.
While in Houston, Jon also attended a Symposium hosted by the Museum entitled: Shifting Paradigms in Contemporary Ceramics: The Garth Clark and Mark Del Vecchio Collection, which celebrates the Museum’s recent accquisition of one of the largest contemporary Ceramics collections in the country.
In late February, Carole Garmon, Rosemary Jesionowski, Jon McMillan and Marjorie Och attended the College Art Association conference in Los Angeles, where they listened to lectures and panel discussions and checked out galleries, museums and architecture!
(Rosemary and Jon outside the MoCA. We also went inside the museum.)
